Thesis (B.S.) -- Cagayan State University, 2025.

This study investigates the structural integrity of selected roof system designs in Aparri, Cagayan, an area with high vulnerability to typhoons making it prone to high wind pressures. The objective is to analyze and compare the structural performance of typical roof types subjected to wind-induced loads, in an effort to prescribe design practices that increase safety and resilience in coastal and high-wind regions. Four gables, one skillion and lean-to, and one shed roof configurations were studied with Structural Analysis and Designing Program STAAD Pro for structural behavior and Graphical Rapid Analysis of Structures Program GRASP for wind simulation of loads. Wind pressure values were in accordance with the National Structural Code of the Philippines (NSCP 2015). The selected samples were modeled and analyzed under simulated wind pressures that reflect the climate data in Aparri, Cagayan. Uplift forces, stress distribution and support reactions were used in the analysis to determine the most efficient roof design in terms of structural stability. The results show that among the selected samples, the best load distribution behavior and highest performance against uplift pressure was achieved by the gable roof Through the provision of data and information that advocate safer construction in typhoon-prone areas such as Aparri, Cagayan, the analysis contributes to the design of climate-resilient roof systems. Civil engineers may use this study as a guide and reference in enhancing resilient roof structures, particularly in typhoon-battered areas such as Aparri, Cagayan.
