Economic development is significantly influenced by its transportation infrastructure. Vehicle needs have increased due to the rapid pace of urbanization, and this has resulted in shortage of road space, which is reflected as roadside traffic frictions. Roadside traffic friction refers to the interference caused by numerous factors along the road, which can impact the flow of vehicles, reduce driving speed, and create delays in transportation systems. These factors in urban areas, such as Tuguegarao City, are particularly pronounced due to the dense mix of vehicular traffic, pedestrian activity, roadside establishments, and varying infrastructure conditions. This study assessed how the impacts of roadside traffic frictions, along Bonifacio Street in Tuguegarao City, affects highway efficiency, measured through its Level of Service (LOS). The researchers focused on the analysis of comparing the LOS derived from actual data and the LOS obtained from traffic simulation. Greenshields Linear Modelling was used to calculate the volume-to- capacity ratio of the roadway based on the actual data gathered that includes roadside traffic friction elements, while Any Logic Software was used to model the traffic environment when excluding the roadside traffic friction. The volume-to-capacity ratio obtained for Bonifacio Street, including roadside traffic friction, was 0.9954 (LOS E), with traffic volume near or at capacity level with low speed. On the other hand, the LOS obtained when excluding the roadside friction elements turned out to be 0. 4451 (LOS B), which shows a stable traffic flow with the speed unaffected. The results showed that there was a significant impact of roadside traffic friction on highway efficiency, in terms of Level of Service (LOS) in the selected roadway The findings demonstrate that side friction considerations must be considered in all traffic-related research to properly build urban highways
