The story begins with Mickey fleeing Earth to escape debt, joining a colonization mission with his friend Timo (Steven Yeun). Upon arrival at Niflheim, Mickey's 17th iteration survives a deadly encounter with the planet's native creatures, the Creepers, who unexpectedly save him. However, upon returning to the ship, he discovers that his 18th clone has already been printed, leading to a moral and existential crisis as both versions must coexist secretly to avoid execution.
