Thesis (B.S.) -- Cagayan State University, 2024.
Includes bibliographical references.
The study focused on designing fabricating, testing, and evaluating the Solar Powered Back-up in Hybrid Incubator Systems. This work took place at Golden Harvest Home Subdivision, Carig Sur, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, from February 28, 2024, to June 01, 2024. The Solar Powered Back System for Egg Incubator serves as an alternative power source during interruptions. It can provide power to the solar powered back up system for up to 15 hours, exceeding the peak 12-hour duration of interruptions. Testing showed that with 40% of the stored power, the machine could sustain power for this duration. Additionally, the battery maintained the required Depth of Discharge (D.O.D), which extends its lifespan. Charging times varied, taking almost 3 days during sunny weather and 5 days during rainy periods. The fabricated machine proved to be economically viable, with a computed return on investment (R.O.I) of 50%. The payback period is estimated at 2 years, and the Benefit-Cost (BC) ratio stands at 11.9, greater than 1.
