The primary objective of this study was to assess the library users' satisfaction at the Cagayan State University Carig Campus. The library plays a crucial role in supporting the academic endeavors of students and faculty members. Therefore, understanding the level of satisfaction among library users is essential for improving library services and
resources.
To gather information on the satisfaction of library users, this study used a descriptive methods approach that combined quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews. The survey questionnaire included questions that were intended to gauge different aspects of library resources, services, facilities, and staff assistance. The interviews allowed for the exploration of particular problems and suggestions for improvement while also giving a deeper understanding of the perspectives of library users. A purposive sampling strategy was used to choose a sample of 315 participants, including faculty members and students. The survey results showed a moderately high level of overall user satisfaction, with the staff's helpfulness and the accessibility of pertinent resources being particular areas of strength. However, there are still some things that could be done better, like the requirement for bigger collections, better technology infrastructure, and more computer units.
The qualitative interviews further clarified the quantitative findings and offered insightful information about the experiences and expectations of library users. Participants expressed the need for more electronic resources, better study areas, and academic support services. Several recommendations were made to improve the satisfaction of library users based on the research's findings. These suggestions included things like boosting the library's budget for purchasing new materials, upgrading its technological capabilities, extending library hours during busy times, and putting user-centered initiatives in place to cater to particular user needs.
This study contributes to the existing literature on library user satisfaction and provides valuable insights for academic libraries seeking to improve their services. It serves as a foundation for future research and encourages ongoing efforts to create an environment that meets the evolving needs of library users at the Cagayan State University Carig Campus.
