Summary, etc This study aimed to address the growing issue of limited parking availability at Cagayan State University-Carig Campus due to the increasing number of students, faculty, and staff. The existing parking facilities are poorly distributed, lack adequate capacity, and contribute to congestion and dissatisfaction among campus users. To provide a data-driven solution, this research utilized a combination of Geographic Information System (GIS) and Relative Importance Index (RII) to evaluate underutilized areas on campus and propose optimal locations for new parking spaces.

The methodology involved site visits to identify 23 underutilized areas across the campus, followed by surveys distributed to 415 respondents from various colleges. These surveys captured stakeholder preferences on six key parking criteria, including proximity, space availability, security, and accessibility. RII was used to rank these preferences, while GIS was employed to spatially map and analyze each site. Results showed that proximity to college buildings, sufficient space, visibility for security, and open layout were the most important factors for users. The integration of RII results into GIS produced a visual suitability map categorizing each area from most to least ideal for parking.

The findings revealed that several high-priority areas identified by stakeholders were not included in the university's current site development plan. This mismatch suggests the need to revise the plan to better reflect actual usage and user needs. The study concludes that GIS and RII together offer an effective framework for optimizing campus parking. improving space allocation, and promoting user satisfaction. The resulting recommendations can support more strategic, equitable, and data-informed parking development at CSU Carig Campus.
