Summary, etc "The Oxford Handbook of Power, Politics and Social Work is an attempt to develop evidence-based literature on how social work evolves and performs in a particular political system. This handbook brings together 52 chapters from 32 countries that represents different regions and regimes. In several chapters, the authors provide an overview of the factors that directly and indirectly shape and reshape social work education and practice in several countries across the world. This comprehensive Handbook aligns well with overarching contemporary themes such as changing governance structures around the world; digitalisation, globalisation; and decolonisation. The book is also in line with the advancement of global agendas for social work and social development led by the IASSW, ICSW & IFSW. This contemporary text engages so comprehensively with diverse political systems across the world and explores the interactions with, and implications for social work policy, practice and education in these countries and globally. Authors for this handbook were carefully chosen by the editors and represent a diverse geographical, political and administrative context in which they discuss the policies related to social work education and the role of ' Power' and the 'Politics' in shaping the social work curriculum, pedagogy and practice teaching. The focus of the oxford handbook of power, politics and social work explores the current dynamics, threats and opportunities of social work education in terms of its origin, growth and development within different political regimes and this will give some direction on those issues in future"-- Provided by publisher.
