Summary, etc | Amidst the growing need for renewable energy sources, the task of identifying the appropriate wind turbine design for specific locations continues to pose a significant challenge. This study conducts a comparative analysis of various wind turbine designs aimed at enhancing street lighting in Crab Hotel Compound at Buguey, Cagayan. The primary objective is to identify the most suitable wind turbine configuration that maximizes energy production while minimizing costs and environmental impacts. The research evaluates three specific turbine types: Savonius, H-Rotor-Darrieus, and Helical-Darrieus vertical axis wind turbines (VAWTs). Field assessments were conducted to gather locall wind data at a height of 6 meters using an anemometer, while simulations analyzed the performance of each turbine design under varying wind conditions. The findings indicate that the optimal turbine design can effectively meet the energy needs of street lighting systems, thereby reducing operational costs associated with traditional grid electricity. Furthermore, this study emphasizes the economic feasibility of implementing these wind turbines within the community, providing a pathway for future renewable energy projects in similar rural settings. Ultimately, this research aims to enhance energy sustainability in street lighting systems through innovative wind energy solutions. Keywords: wind energy, street lighting, vertical-axis wind turbine (VAWT), Savonius, H-Rotor Darrieus, Helical Darrieus, renewable energy, wind turbine design, sustainability, power generation. |
