Proposed three-storey achool building with four classrooms and study hall at Cagayan State University Carig Campus [manuscript] / Joy Dayag, JHona Mae P. Aguinawang, Irelle Vivien B. Bawagan. - ©2025. - xvi, 124 pages ; 29 cm.
Thesis (B.S.) -- Cagayan State University, 2025.
This thesis presents the architectural design and structural analysis of a three-storey school building design of four classrooms and a study hall, with the integration of net-zero energy systems and biophilic design, located at the Carig Campus of Cagayan State University. It seeks the emergency provision of additional academic spaces for the College of Engineering and Architecture (COEA) where there is currently a shortage of classrooms. This shortage compromises the adequacy of learning and scheduling. The building incorporates passive cooling systems, daylighting, interior greenery, and solar photovoltaic systems for energy efficiency and wellness of users. Structural analysis was done using STAAD.Pro and RCDC to comply with the National Structural Code of the Philippines (NSCP 2015) provisions for earthquake and wind resistance.
A detailed material estimate totaled to a construction cost at P23,367,603.07, which includes all materials use for the building. The design was also classified to have 26% energy savings surpassing the 20% minimum requirement by the EDGE (Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies) app, therefore, obtaining the EDGE green building certification, confirming that the design is eco-friendly, comfortable to stay in, and is less costly to operate. Thus, this study would be of replicable value in the development of green school infrastructure in tropical, resource-constrained educational contexts.
