The productivity of poultry farming in the Philippines is critical for both economic growth and food security. However, the industry faces challenges in meeting global standards. This study aimed to address the challenge of suboptimal environmental conditions that hinder egg production in Philippine poultry houses by investigating the effectiveness of CluckGuard, an IoT-based Climate and Environmental Monitoring System, at LJJM Eggs Poultry Farm, Alcala, Cagayan. CluckGuard utilized a network of automated sensors to continuously monitor critical environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, and ammonia levels. A Decision Support System (DSS) analyzed the sensor data and triggered adjustments to the ventilation system to create an optimal environment for hen health and comfort. A user- friendly visual interface was also provided to empower the farm manager to monitor environmental data, receive alerts, and interact with the system, facilitating informed decision-making. The system was evaluated over a six-week period. The optimized environment created by CluckGuard demonstrably led to increased egg production in hens compared to traditional methods employed at the farm, which served as the control group. Analysis revealed improved hen health and well-being, as evidenced by weight gain in the hens under the CluckGuard-equipped group. Additionally, CluckGuard effectively maintained optimal air quality within the poultry house, further contributing to a healthy environment for the hens. These findings highlighted the potential of IoT technology to significantly improve poultry productivity and welfare in the Philippines. This research provided valuable insights into the field of precision agriculture, potentially promoting the adoption of technology for sustainable and efficient egg production practices. The success of CluckGuard at LJJM Eggs Poultry Farm could pave the way for further investigation and potential adaptation of the system in other poultry farms across the country.
