This study aimed to design and developed a system that generates electricity from human effort in a gym cycle. The system consists of a pedal, belt drive, flywheel, DC motor, adjustable voltage regulator, and a battery. The human force applied to the pedal generates torque, which is transmitted through the belt drive to the flywheel and DC motor, converting mechanical energy into electrical energy. An adjustable voltage regulator is used to regulate the voltage generated. The electrical energy is stored in a lead-acid battery and can be used to power electronic devices. The researchers conducted experiments to evaluate the performance of the system and measured the parameters such as RPM, voltage, and current at different levels of human effort: easy, moderate, and hard. The RPM at three different modes ranges from 60 to 85, 95 to 115, and 120 to 150 respectively. In easy mode, the voltage ranges from OV to 1.895V. In moderate mode, the voltage ranges from 4.974V to 9.35V. In hard mode, the voltage ranges from 7.10V to 13V . The results showed that higher levels of resistance (hard mode) and higher rpm resulted in higher voltage values compared to easier mode. The study showed results in terms of voltage, with the higher levels of effort resulting in higher electrical output. These findings can contribute to the development of sustainable energy solutions by harnessing human power in various applications.
